About CHI Montessori Academy: The mission of CHI Montessori Academy, located in the heart of SW Atlanta, is to offer a quality Montessori education infused with culturally inclusive principles, guiding children as they develop to their fullest potential. Currently, our school serves a student population ranging in age from 6 weeks through 3rd grade. We are fortunate to have dedicated and very engaged parents, many who have supported the school since its founding as a 501(c)3, in 2014. We seek to instill personal responsibility, critical thinking, resilience and respect for the environment, self and others, giving children a foundation for learning that will last throughout their lifetime.
Position Summary: CHI Montessori Academy is seeking an Elementary Program teacher (currently Kindergarten through 3rd grade but planning to grow through the 6th grade) to join our dynamic staff. We are looking for an experienced Montessori teacher who holds true the ideals of following the individual child, creates an environment that promotes independent learning and infuses community values throughout the curriculum. The right candidate should possess maturity, dedication, high integrity, and good judgement, the ability to self-reflect as a member of the teaching staff, and the courage to grow as an educational leader. We seek individuals with a clear understanding of the Montessori philosophy, deep knowledge of the development of children, and the classroom management and communication skills that nurture self-discipline, order, and confidence in young students. All subject areas are taught in a self-contained, mixed-age classroom of 10-15 students. The population of the elementary class is small but growing and we need the right teacher to grow with us.
Ideal Candidate: Must possess a Montessori Elementary Teaching Certification and have previous teaching experience in a Montessori setting. It is preferred, but not mandatory, that the candidate hold a Georgia Teaching Certificate and a bachelor’s degree in Education (or related field). Prior to hire, the candidate must complete the CPR and First Aid training and a background check will be required.
If you are a creative, innovative Montessori Elementary Lead Teacher, able to guide children academically, while embracing their unique learning style and personalities, then we can offer you a rewarding experience in a diverse (and growing) school community. The 10-month academic year position, while commensurate and negotiable, considering education and experience, is scheduled to pay a salary between $38K - $40K. Benefits are also available.
If you possess a sincere commitment to building a quality Montessori environment and collaborating with experienced colleagues, please consider joining us. If interested, please submit your most recent resume and cover letter highlighting your experience, certifications and qualifications to CHIMontessori@gmail.com. Once a member of our HR Committee reviews your resume and finds it to be aligned with the preferred and required qualifications, a member of the CHI Montessori staff will be in contact immediately to begin the interview process.
