This position entails working with a co-teacher in a room with up to 30 students in grades 6, 7, and 8. Primary focus is on teaching Language Arts, with shared responsibilities for teaching cultural subjects. In addition to the core qualifications, this person must have a passion for making literature come alive with interdisciplinary projects and real-world learning opportunities. The candidate must be a strong communicator, welcome collaboration, actively seek student engagement, and keep accurate and complete records. The candidate must understand adolescents and inspire them to do their best every day as well as support them in developing strong social and emotional skills with peers and adults.
Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) with emphasis on Language Arts education for middle childhood or high school, as well as a State of Ohio teaching license for middle childhood or high school (or ability to get license), AMS certification Elementary II (9-12) or Secondary I (12-14) or willingness to obtain Montessori training. Candidate with previous teaching experience at middle school or high school level is preferred; we will consider an experienced 9-12 Teacher who is moving up.
