We are seeking a caring and nurturing Infant & Toddler Assistant Teacher for our AMI recognized and AMS accredited Montessori schools located in DC and Maryland. You will be supported by a Lead Primary Guide, and by a leadership team that knows what it takes to run a world-class program.
Since opening our first school in 1977, Metro Montessori has grown into an organization representing 5 AMS accredited Montessori schools, and 1 AMI recognized Montessori school: both designations indicate that our schools meet or exceed the most exacting standards of Montessori pedagogy. Each sister school has its own unique culture and feel, having grown out of the needs of the surrounding community.
You will create an environment that is conducive to the growth and development of children in the realization of their fullest learning potential. You will prepare materials to meet the needs of the children, interact with and support their parents, and operate in a manner in keeping with Montessori Method and concerns for educational excellence.

The Assistant Teacher will work with the Lead Infant and Toddler Teacher in the full-day Infant and Toddler program. The Assistant helps to create a positive learning environment guided by the Montessori Infant and Toddler philosophies and curriculum. The Assistant Teacher helps identify each child’s development needs. The Assistant communicates well with the others in the classroom and ensures that the classroom environment facilitates a peaceful atmosphere for learning.
Experience and Qualifications:
As the Infant and Toddler Assistant Teacher you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, however, a Bachelor’s Degree preferred. In addition, the 45-hour certification is preferred. The Assistant Teacher must have an interest in working with children, learning more about the Montessori Philosophy, and expanding their Montessori knowledge base. The Assistant must be able to demonstrate effective classroom skills and strong communication skills.
