Montessori Preschool Teacher – Woodlyn Academy

Position Summary
Woodlyn Academy is seeking a passionate, nurturing, and skilled Montessori Preschool Teacher to guide young learners through an authentic, developmentally rich Montessori experience. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering independence, curiosity, and respect while creating a warm, engaging, and structured environment where children can explore, discover, and grow at their own pace.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain an inviting, orderly, and developmentally appropriate Montessori environment that inspires exploration and independence

  • Present Montessori materials and lessons aligned with each child’s individual learning plan and stage of development

  • Observe and document children’s progress through anecdotal notes, work samples, and Montessori record-keeping tools

  • Model and reinforce grace, courtesy, peaceful conflict resolution, and social-emotional development

  • Foster strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues through open communication and collaboration

  • Support child-led learning with patience, calm guidance, and encouragement

  • Maintain high standards of classroom cleanliness, safety, and organization, including proper material rotation and environmental upkeep

  • Plan and implement family engagement opportunities and participate in conferences, professional learning sessions, and team meetings

  • Align practices with Montessori philosophy, Keystone STARS guidelines, quality standards, and Woodlyn Academy’s mission for excellence in early childhood education

Qualifications

  • Montessori certification or training, AMS preferred; willingness to pursue certification highly valued)

  • Experience working with preschool-aged children in a Montessori or early childhood education setting

  • Strong understanding of child development, positive behavior guidance, and culturally responsive practice

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to create a calm, respectful, child-centered learning environment
