Kindergarten Teacher

Montessori Head Teacher, Primary Program (Kindergarten, Ages 5 to 6)

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and nurturing Montessori Head Teacher to lead our Kindergarten classroom within our Primary programme. The ideal candidate will have experience across both 3 to 6 and 6 to 9 environments, with the ability to support children transitioning into the next stage of their Montessori journey.

About the Role

The Head Teacher will lead a well established Montessori classroom, fostering independence, confidence, and a love of learning. This role requires strong leadership, thoughtful curriculum planning, and meaningful collaboration with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Montessori Teaching Certification required
• Bachelor’s degree required
• New York State teaching certification required for Kindergarten
• Must meet NYS OCFS requirements
• Experience in both 3 to 6 and 6 to 9 Montessori environments preferred
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Commitment to professional growth and development

Candidates with 3 to 6 training will be considered, however, the ability to extend learning beyond the traditional 3 to 6 curriculum, in response to each child’s readiness and capability, is essential.

Bilingual abilities and a love of nature are a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Montessori classroom environment
• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate Montessori curriculum
• Observe, assess, and document student progress
• Maintain strong, timely communication with families
• Mentor and collaborate with assistant teachers
• Ensure the safety, well being, and holistic development of each child
• Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development
