The role of the Upper Elementary teacher is to develop and prepare an academically challenging, respectful and engaging curriculum and environment based on Montessori principles. The teacher will work to develop the whole child through careful observation, fostering of cooperation and collaboration, and the development of lessons that speak to individual students' interests.
Other professional duties include:
-Conduct individual and small group instruction as needed
-Instruct students in the principles of grace and courtesy
-Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn about current developments in Montessori education by participating in professional development and attending seminars
-Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping/reporting for all student activities and achievement
-Encourage parent involvement in a students' education and provide effective communication with students and parents
-Coordinate with other Montessori staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum
