About Us

Malta Montessori School, serving children ages 15 months to 9 years old, is a vibrant 19-year-old Montessori school at the foothills of the Adirondacks in Saratoga County in Upstate New York. Rooted in the Montessori method, we provide a nurturing, respectful, and enriching environment where children are encouraged to explore, grow, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated early childhood educator who is excited about growing in the field of Montessori education to assist classrooms at the Early Childhood/Primary level that we call Children’s House. This is a wonderful opportunity for new graduates with an associate or bachelor's in early childhood education. We offer professional development opportunities to support career growth for motivated assistant teachers who are excited to grow professionally in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the lead teacher in maintaining a peaceful, organized classroom by guiding children towards meaningful activities and appropriate conduct and peer interactions.
  • Assist in preparing a beautifully Montessori classroom that inspires independence, focus, and a love of learning.
  • Assist with observation, classroom management, and individualized guidance to support their academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Foster independence, respect, and a love of learning in every child
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with children and their families.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to maintain a consistent, nurturing environment.
  • Participate in school-wide celebrations and events.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children
  • Maintain a calm, clean, organized, and enriching classroom in alignment with Montessori principles.

What We’re Looking For

  • Warm, respectful, and patient demeanor
  • An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred)
  • Classroom experience in a Montessori setting (preferred, but we welcome passionate new graduates)
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • A reflective, flexible, and collaborative spirit
  • A deep respect for the individuality and potential of every child
  • A curious and adaptable mindset
  • Montessori Assistant training (AMI/AMS) or willingness to complete training
  • Ability to pass background checks and meet local licensing requirements
