Greene Towne Montessori School, located in Center City, Philadelphia, is dedicated to providing a stimulating learning environment for children ages 18 months through 6 years, consistent with the values and principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. The only Montessori school in Philadelphia fully accredited by the American Montessori Society and the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools, Greene Towne Montessori School instills in young children an understanding of learning as a personal process, a sense of agency in building self and community, and the joy of possibility.

 

Now entering its 56th year, Greene Towne is expanding and consolidating its two campuses with a move into a new facility in its Logan Square neighborhood this fall. The three-floor building and expansive roof playdeck will allow the school to come together as a unified campus with spacious classrooms specifically designed and outfitted for our program. At this exciting time for our school, Greene Towne seeks an Associate Director of Admissions and Enrollment to support the increased opportunities for enrollment and to enable us to serve more families interested in providing an exceptional Montessori education in a well-established school to their children. Greene Towne’s administrative team, faculty, board and families are a strong, collaborative, and supportive community centered around young children and families. 

 

Position Profile

The Associate Director of Admission and Enrollment position may be a full-time position, or a part-time position with the opportunity to grow to full-time. This position is a key part of the admissions team, recruiting, enrolling, and retaining mission-aligned families from across the Philadelphia area. 

 

The Associate Director partners with the Director of Enrollment Management to coordinate all facets of the admission process including managing the inquiry process, evaluating applicant files, applicant and parent evaluations, coordinating financial aid awards, enrolling new students, and enabling a smooth transition into the school community. The Admissions and Enrollment Office is responsible for maintaining full enrollment of the school; providing periodic reports to the Board of Trustees; community engagement; and promoting and coordinating classes, including Montessori and Me parent-child classes and facility rentals.

As we prepare to move into our new home, Greene Towne seeks an eager, energetic, and enthusiastic individual with experience working in a Montessori setting or a hospitality/sales background. This position interfaces regularly with all members of the Greene Towne community, and collaborates with the administrative team as a whole.

 

The successful candidate will have strong communication, organizational, and prioritization skills. They will be proactive and nimble; possess a high degree of compassion, empathy, and sound judgment; enjoy an ability to authentically connect with young children, parents, colleagues, and community members from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. They will seek to understand Greene Towne’s history and be open to introducing new ideas and approaches that align with best practices and Greene Towne’s unique culture. The Associate Director will be a team builder and leader, consensus creator, active listener, and relationship nurturer who believes in the power of early childhood education. In addition to working closely with the Director of Enrollment Management, the Associate Director will work in partnership with colleagues in the offices of Communication and Development, business, faculty and staff, and parent volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required with a preference for a focus in communications and marketing or education-related fields or comparable work experience
  • Customer-focused or early childhood education work experience
  • Experience with Montessori Education either as a parent or former teacher/practitioner is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of working effectively with a wide range of people
  • Demonstrated experience at addressing multiple priorities with a strategic focus
  • Strong proponent of early childhood education and a love of children
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports and non-direct reports (e.g. volunteers)
  • Proficiency with a variety of technology platforms
