St. Christopher’s By-the-Sea Episcopal Montessori School is conducting a nationwide search for a Head of School. Located on the sub-tropical island of Key Biscayne, this well-established PK 2 - 6th grade school is seeking a leader with a vision for growth as it opens a new educational facility that expands the enrollment capacity by 50%. Candidate must broaden the existing Montessori curriculum for greater enrichment in art, music, STEM and a robust after school program. The Village of Key Biscayne, less than 10 minutes from downtown Miami, is home to 13,000 highly educated and civically engaged residents including many young families from Latin America. The successful candidate needs to embody the church-school’s dedication to innovation, personal development, and leadership through Christian values.
The new Head of School will possess the ability to lead the school into the next phase of maturity and long-term growth.
S/he will bring a love and history of educating children, a dedication to growth, a rigorous and experienced ability to review and expand the current curriculum, an ability to work in partnership with faculty and parents to identify opportunities to improve the overall experience with the school. S/he will have the marketing skills to attract children and families that are a good fit for the Day School's program and place them in excellent on-going schools when students have completed their education with us.
Characteristics we are looking for in our next Head of School:
A strategic thinker who has the vision to manage and expand a first class school and set it on a path for a successful future.
A competent administrator who can oversee the financial affairs of the School including attaining higher enrollment levels, maintaining a budget and monitoring ongoing operating income and expenses, while working closely with the Rector and the Vestry in building a sustainable long-term strategic plan.
An excellent communicator who possesses the ability to establish strong relationships with all constituencies--children, parents, faculty, church staff, the community of Key Biscayne — and can compellingly articulate the pedagogy and educational goals of the School.
A passionate advocate for children and families who will facilitate the admissions and exmissions process, leading to higher enrollment to the Day School parent satisfaction with placement at ongoing schools.
A warm, approachable person with a presence that welcomes and respects the views of others, yet has a decisive mindset.
A supportive mentor of the faculty who is able to work with them to develop a curriculum that is both engaging and successful at preparing students emotionally, socially, and cognitively.
