Reading Specialist

New School Montessori is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Reading Specialist to support students Kindergarten through Upper Elementary.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in education, reading, literacy, special education, or a related field, along with specialized training in evidence-based reading instruction. Experience with structured literacy, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and individualized intervention is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• assessing students, providing targeted individual and small-group instruction, monitoring progress, collaborating with classroom teachers and families, and helping develop effective literacy support plans.

Candidates should be patient, collaborative, organized, and committed to helping students become confident and capable readers. Experience working in an independent school or Montessori environment is a plus.
