East Cooper Montessori Charter School has been a premier public Montessori school in both Charleston County, as well as South Carolina, for the past 16 years. The Adolescent/Middle School program is entering its 13th year. ECMCS serves students age 3-8th grade and takes great pride growing Montessori student and teacher leaders. We enjoy a facility of almost 20,000 square feet complete with a Grand Hall, STEM lab, Performing Arts Room, Stage, Art Studio, Kiln, Basketball courts, Baseball diamond, two technology labs, and gardens. We have a newly constructed 4,000 square feet Middle School Suite designed with glass breakout rooms, floor to ceiling markerboard walls, and flex seating to meet the needs of adolescent learners.

We are seeking a Lead Adolescent/Middle School Teacher for our growing program. The Middle School program at ECMCS will serve approximately 75 students and offers a diversity of experiences to meet the needs of the adolescent learner. Students participate in their own student run business, off campus retreats, trips to Washington DC, internships, financial projects, community service and outreach, peace projects and service learning, student led conferences, etc. The teaching team currently consists of three lead teachers and we are seeking to add a 4th to the group. Responsibilities include planning, leading, and implementing the Montessori curriculum, supporting parents and students, participating in the culture of the school community, and networking and collaborating during Montessori Professional Development opportunities in the area.

Candidates applying must be willing to enroll in Montessori Teacher Training or hold a Montessori Teaching Certificate. ECMCS will financially sponsor candidates enrolling in Montessori training - details will be discussed during the interview process. Preference is given to candidates with 5 or more years of teaching experience. At ECMCS, great autonomy is given to teachers to be creative, innovative, and passionate about Montessori education and 21st learners. The school serves as a leader in the Montessori community and a hub for innovation and professional development. Salary and benefits are commensurate with the CCSD scale.

Compensation

Commensurate with the Charleston County School District salary scale, insurance benefits, and retirement benefits package.
