We are seeking a caring and nurturing Lead Infant & Toddler Guide for our AMI recognized and AMS accredited Montessori schools located in DC and Maryland. You will be supported by an Infant & Toddler Assistant, and by a leadership team that knows what it takes to run a world-class program.

Since opening our first school in 1977, Metro Montessori has grown into an organization representing 5 AMS accredited Montessori schools, and 1 AMI recognized Montessori school: both designations indicate that our schools meet or exceed the most exacting standards of Montessori pedagogy. Each sister school has its own unique culture and feel, having grown out of the needs of the surrounding community.

You will create an environment that is conducive to the growth and development of children in the realization of their fullest learning potential. You will prepare materials to meet the needs of the children, interact with and support their parents, and operate in a manner in keeping with Montessori Method and concerns for educational excellence.

Position Summary:

The Lead Infant and Toddler Guide works as the lead teacher in the full-day Infant and Toddler program.  The Guide creates a positive learning environment guided by the Montessori Infant and Toddler philosophies and curriculum.  The Lead Guide addresses each child’s development needs and continues to move them along the developmental continuum.  The Lead Guide communicates well and frequently with parents as well as colleagues and administration. 

Qualifications and Experience:

As a Montessori Guide you must have a Bachelor’s Degree and have an AMI, AMS, or MACTE accredited Montessori credential for the Infant and Toddler Montessori program. The Lead Guide must be able to demonstrate effective classroom skills and strong communication skills.   The Guide must also possess the skills and ability to manage and direct the Assistant teachers in the classroom.
