ABOUT THE JOB

We seek a dynamic SLP to provide services for students in preschool through 8th grade at our beautiful Golden campus.  The SLP serves as a vital member of our school’s Learning Resource Team and supports students on Individual Education Plans (IEP’s), completes assessments to determine eligibility for speech/language/communications specialized support services, completes required reports and provides related services to students who qualify while fulfilling all school, district, state, and federal requirements.  Duties include observation, evaluation, and testing students, collaboration with school professionals, attending IEP meetings, and assuring compliance with IDEA and ADA. Periodic consultation with parents is also required.  The SLP provides therapeutic supports to students, runs skill development groups, oversees our part-time SLP-A, and collaborates with teachers, administrators, and parents to support speech, language, communication, and pragmatic skill development. Candidate must hold a valid Special Service Provider License through the Colorado Department of Education in the area of Speech Language Pathology.

HOURS AND DAYS WORKED

Desired Start Date: 08/06/2020

Part Time: 20 hours per week; 4 hours daily Monday through Friday

POSITION SUMMARY: The Free Horizon Montessori School Learning Resource Team Specialist understands and promotes the school’s mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Special Service Provider is responsible for planning and providing strong instructional/interventional programs consistent with the Montessori philosophy that stimulate learning in the cognitive, affective, social, creative and physical areas of development for students with special educational needs and supports the individual needs of each child in accordance with a student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP), the school’s mission, vision, and District and State policies. Special Service Providers are responsible for administrative documentation related to students’ IEPs and related programs. Special Service Providers must possess a strong understanding of the relationship between curriculum, instruction intervention and assessment in supporting student achievement, and demonstrate comfort and competence in utilizing technology to enhance student learning. 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree in field

• Current valid Special Service Provider License through the Colorado Department of Education in Position Area: Speech Therapist, Speech Correction or Speech/Language Pathologist

• Masters degree in speech pathology or communications disorders from a recognized training institution or qualified by Statement of Professional Recognition

• Current valid certification from American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) prior to hire

• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred 
  

SALARY

As an Option School of Innovation, Free Horizon Montessori has its own salary scales. The Speech Language Pathologist is on the Teacher 191 scale, found here.
