Position Overview:
The Learning Resources Teacher provides targeted, evidence-based literacy and math intervention for students in grades 1–6. This role is ideal for a skilled specialist who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and partnering with classroom teachers to ensure students meet grade-level expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide differentiated math and literacy instruction through push-in and pull-out models, including small group and individualized support
- Design and implement targeted interventions aligned with Common Core Standards and informed by student data
- Establish clear instructional goals; monitor progress regularly and adjust instruction to accelerate student growth
- Apply a strengths-based, student-centered approach, incorporating insights from educational evaluations and assessments
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core instruction
- Partner with families through clear, proactive communication and participation in conferences
- Support implementation of assistive technology to increase student access and independence
- Administer and analyze benchmark assessments (grades 1–6, three times per year)
- Actively contribute to Learning Resources team meetings and broader program development
Schedule:
- 4 hours per day (morning schedule)
- Monday–Friday, 20 hours per week
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education or Special Education (or currently in progress, with completion expected within one year)
- ISBE Professional Educator License with Learner Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) endorsement and/or certification in a structured literacy program (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, SLANT)
- Minimum of two years of experience providing targeted intervention in a school setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Wilson Reading System certification
- Experience in a Montessori environment
- Demonstrated expertise in structured literacy and intervention design
