HORIZONS at Lexington Montessori School is looking for dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced CH or LE teachers who are looking to have a meaningful teaching experience for 6 weeks during the summer. Candidate should have a minimum of three years of teaching experience and a Montessori teaching credential. Candidate must work toward the fulfillment of the HORIZONS Mission which is to, “change the trajectory of low-income students by instilling the joy of learning, the skills for success and the inspiration to realize their dreams.”
Educator for approximately 20 - 24 students during the six week summer academic and enrichment program
Responsible for the planning and instruction of different subject areas using Montessori materials, in addition to a range of teaching aids
Maintains attendance records, writes lesson plans, teaches lessons, creates bi-weekly classroom newsletters and prepares final student reports
Teachers work in close collaboration with Co- Head Teacher(1), Teacher Assistant (1) AND Teacher Intern (1)
Teacher oversees and supervises assigned associates (Teacher Assistant and Student Intern, if applicable), in conjunction with the Executive Director
Teachers are assigned to a regular, rotating bus monitoring duty each week during the summer; 2 to 3 times per week
Teachers attend all scheduled field trips, participate in daily meals with students, incorporate the weekly use of outdoor nature space, scheduled faculty meetings and the HORIZONS LMS Family Visitation Day
Two weeks prior to the start of the HORIZONS LMS Summer Session, Teachers attend an orientation session.
Swimming and water play: Oversee students as they engage in on-campus water play (Children’s House Group) OR attend the off - campus pool and oversee formal swimming lessons (Elementary Group) [3 times per week
DATES: July 8, 2019 - August 16, 2019 Six- week Program
**Required HORIZONS Staff Orientation Day TBD in June : approx. 6 hrs HOURS: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM w/ additional hours on assigned bus duty days for morning Arrival @ LMS 7:45 AM; For afternoon Return to LMS approx. 4:15 PM.
