Prairieland Montessori is seeking a Montessori Directress/Teacher for a toddler room (15-36 months) for its schools on the north side of Chicago!

You will guide the child through many exciting milestones and model new capabilities as he/she works towards greater independence.
Your goals as a teacher include helping the child to accomplish the following:
Build social and emotional skills by encouraging and modeling positive relationships with other children, teachers and families.
Develop intellectual and cognitive abilities through fun exploration of language, science and math activities using Montessori materials.
Foster creative abilities and fine motor skills through art projects, music enjoyment and scientific exploration.
Enhance large motor skills through daily outdoor play and movement activities.
Encourage a love and respect for nature, diversity and the environment by weaving opportunities to explore into daily life.
Your role in the Prairieland community of children, teachers, family and neighborhood requires that you:
Foster strong relationships with everyone in the community through open, honest and frequent communication including listening to the concerns and ideas of others.
Lead classroom staff in daily activities.
Coach staff in respectful communications with children, families and each other.
Create an environment that reinforces an eco-friendly, healthy and inclusive philosophy.
Support safety and health practices in the community, and keep the environment and equipment clean and in good working order.
Provide input to the curriculum and actively participate in enhancing our program for the children's benefit.
Uphold the mission, goals and policies of the center, and model the values for others.
Participate in evaluating staff members.
Help with maintaining accurate and timely enrollment and family records.
Share and discuss important goals, decisions and concerns with staff and Director.
Participate in the process to achieve and maintain AMI/AMS membership, NAEYC Accreditation and Eco-Healthy Child Care status.
Attend and actively participate in meetings, conferences, and training courses.

Montessori Teaching Certificate from an accredited program
High School Diploma/GED College preferred
At least 19 years old
Disabilities training or be willing to complete within the first 6 months of employment
Food safety training a plus
1-2 years Montessori teaching experience at the 2-3 year old level or toddler/infant levels is preferred
