About Montessori Kids Universe Bannockburn

At MKU Bannockburn, we provide a high-quality, authentic Montessori education for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Our nurturing and engaging environment allows children to explore, grow, and develop through hands-on learning experiences. As a Montessori Lead Teacher, you will play a vital role in guiding children toward independence and success while fostering a warm and collaborative classroom culture.

Responsibilities

Classroom Leadership & Teaching

  • Lead a Montessori-prepared environment that supports each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Plan and implement Montessori lessons and activities tailored to meet the needs of individual learners.
  • Ensure the classroom is organized, safe, and well-prepared with age-appropriate materials.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and nurturing environment that promotes independence and self-confidence.
  • Maintain a normalized classroom, ensuring children have opportunities to develop coordination, concentration, independence, and order.

 

Parent & Community Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with families by communicating regularly about student progress.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide progress reports to discuss child development.
  • Collaborate with parents and staff to create a supportive learning environment at school and at home.

Staff Development & Team Collaboration

  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers, ensuring a cohesive teaching team.
  • Collaborate with staff members to create enriching curriculum experiences.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. 
  • Participate in two community events per year

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with DCFS licensing regulations and Montessori accreditation standards.
  • Maintain student records and progress documentation.
  • Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures to provide a safe and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Maintain & log 15 hours annually of Professional Development and keep DCFS required training up to date.

Qualifications

  • **Montessori Certification ** from an accredited Montessori training center
  • Minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, kneel, sit on the floor & move classroom furniture or equipment as needed.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
