We are seeking a specialized Technology and Robotics teacher to help support the STREAM curriculum with students Kindergarten through Upper Elementary! At Montessori School of McLean, all of these topics, except Robotics, have a place in our Elementary classrooms. We understand that technology is an important part of our world, and if we are to prepare our students for life, we need to teach technology and its related subjects in a responsible manner that also adheres to the Montessori philosophy.
Our STREAM Lab is available to our Kindergarten through 6th Grade students as a special pull-out program, and our Science teacher also pushes into the classrooms to support the Montessori Science lessons.
The lab includes: extensive science materials; engineering challenges; technology with a focus on relevant practical skills using programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; robotics using the Vex Go and Vex IQ programs; coding using Scratch; Maker Space; and, graphic design. We are working toward adding a 3D printer.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with our Science Lab teacher on STREAM topics, has experience with teaching children aged 5-12 years, has the knowledge and ability to teach Technology and Robotics skills, has knowledge of or experience with Montessori, holds a degree related to teaching or technology, can support teachers with technology needs, and most importantly, is warm and caring and works well with children and colleagues. Training will be provided as needed, but the expectation is that candidates already possess significant skills. Salary commensurate with education level and years of experience.
