Assistant Montessori Teacher

General Responsibilities

The Montessori Assistant Teacher plays a critical role in the smooth running of the classroom. They are responsible for supporting the Lead Teachers through the preparation and maintenance of the classroom environment; tone-keeping so that children may receive uninterrupted lessons; and helping to manage snack, toileting, and transitions between environments. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are necessary as the Assistant Teachers will interact with children, parents/families, and colleagues on a daily basis, sharing observations as necessary. 

Specific Responsibilities

Educational Program & Student Services

• Support Lead Teachers in preparing and maintaining beautiful and safe Montessori environments 
• Be responsible for keeping the environment clean, sanitized, and orderly 
• Assist children with diaper changes and toileting 
• Assist with meals and clean up 
• Take children outside daily 
• Follow all classroom procedures 

Qualifications and Qualities: 

• Positive, enthusiastic attitude, ability to adapt to change, and attention to detail
• Love and respect for children
• Strong desire to be part of a team
• Montessori training or 2 or more years of Montessori experience preferred
• MA State EEC teacher certification or willingness to work towards EEC Preschool teacher certification
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Spanish Language skills a plus
• Basic word processing and computer skills
• Associates degree or higher
• CORI/SORI background record check certification

• Able to work on the floor, lift, and carry
