Little City Montessori is adding an Assistant Director to the administrative team. This 12-month, full-time position involves significant and varied responsibilities, working closely with the Head of School and reporting to the Director of Operations. Little City Montessori is an independent preschool in South Kensington serving students two to six years old. In September, we are opening a second location in Northern Liberties and will add an elementary program as well! LCM believes children should be nurtured and celebrated as individuals in order for them to unlock their love for learning and build on their natural curiosity. We have a team of dedicated, passionate, caring teachers in a community of supportive families. The Assistant Director will:

  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Operations to ensure compliance with licensing requirements, including maintaining accurate record keeping with the management of staff and student files
  • Support the planning and execution of emergency preparedness/disaster training and drills
  • Partner with the Director of Operations on the staff schedule
  • Maintain school inventory (snack, supplies, etc) and oversee supply orders
  • Act as a floater and assist in classrooms (as needed) in order to support teachers and maintain ratios
  • Support morning drop-off by acting as a greeter in the lobby
  • Develop and maintain relationships with families through professional and transparent communication
  • Prepare reports as needed
  • Review handbooks annually
  • Conduct classroom observations to stay connected in order to best support the teaching teams
  • Answer the telephone and direct calls to appropriate team members
  • Represent Little City at community events, such as open houses, parent education workshops and other school programs (occasionally including evening and weekend events)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • A disciplined self-starter with the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize, while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience with Brightwheel is preferred

General Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in education that includes some teaching experience and/or
  • Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience
  • Proficient knowledge of a variety of PC computer software applications including Google Suite
  • Overall mobility is essential including sitting, walking, and standing, for extended periods of time during the school day
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Reliable transportation

This is a 12-month, full-time position. Monday through Friday, 8am - 5:30pm.
