Hopscotch Montessori is an international school looking to hire an elementary teacher to continue the development and success of our elementary program for our VIA NYC location. Hopscotch Montessori is an international Montessori school enrolling children 2-12 years old in NYC. Our schools follow Dr. Montessori's method with a warm and respectful attitude toward children. We opened our elementary program in October 2020 and currently have lower and upper elementary classrooms. Began We are looking for prospective teachers to join our team. Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of Montessori philosophy for elementary-aged students
  • Montessori Certification (AMS, AMI, or equivalent)
  • Minimum of three years experience as a teacher of children 6- 12 Years old
  • Experience building elementary curriculum, lesson planning, and spreading the curriculum appropriate for each student.
  • Openness to working with children of diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Creative, positive, flexible, team mentality

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • The first year in this position will be considered a “building year” as we collaborate and define the program and all associated materials and systems.
  • Building the Scope and Sequence for lower and upper elementary using the current tools and resources.
  • Spread the curriculum over the time of elementary years.
  • Specifically bringing attention to high-quality service and education, nurturing authentic relationships, and fostering trust, confidence, and a shared belief in Hopscotch Montessori’s philosophy, mission, vision, and values.
  • Ensuring the curriculum reflects our international approach while maintaining academic standards within Hopscotch Montessori’s philosophy.
  • Ensure we deliver excellence in academics, paired with deep attention to social and emotional aspects of student development.
  • Ensuring fidelity to Montessori principles,
  • Act as an Ambassador for the school in professional circles, supporting other Hopscotch Montessori programs, Hopscotch Hub
  • Maintain Self-reflective practices, flexible and critical thinking, with a growth mindset and lifelong learning approach.
  • Maintain Montessori curriculum
  • Responsible for preparing an environment in which the furnishings and materials are complete and correspond to the needs of the students
  • Maintain a clear, orderly, and attractive Montessori environment, including the care and maintenance of classroom materials.
  • Provide educational plans
  • Observation
  • Prepare for parent conferences
  • Organize the whole cycle in the Montessori group
  • Supervise assistant teachers
