Position Summary
The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) seeks Instructional Aide(s) and After-School Care Guide(s) for the 2024-2025 school year beginning August 1, 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who loves working with students aged six weeks - 12 years of age and is looking to advance in the profession. Instructional Aides and After-School Care Guides will work closely with experienced Lead and Assistant Guides to provide continuity of instruction and care from academic day through after-school for our lower school students.

Established in 1974, MSR is a vibrant and exceptional independent Montessori and International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in the Triangle area serving 400+ students aged 6 weeks through 18 years. Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in education or a related field
- Montessori experience preferred
- Teaching experience at the Infant (6 weeks - 18 months) , Toddler (15 months - 3 years), Children’s House (3 - 6 years) levels, and/or Elementary (grades 1-6)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Adhere to American Montessori Society (AMS) guidelines and professional standards
- Ensure safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Assist the classroom guides in the general care of the Montessori environment, which may include refilling building supplies and proper, safe storage of inventory, maintaining inventory of the classroom and commonly used supplies and materials in a clearly labeled location accessible for staff, repairing materials and equipment as directed, and assisting in the preparation of activity and project materials
- Provide supportive and collaborative partnership with classroom guides through consistent communication, which includes serving as a substitute classroom teacher, when necessary
- Prepare and maintain an After-School Care environment in which the furnishings and materials are developmentally appropriate in providing care as an extension to the academic school day, which supports students, staff, parents, Montessori philosophy, and MSR policies
- Plan, deliver, and supervise a developmentally appropriate and consistent schedule of activities for students from 3 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Maintain a supportive and collaborative partnership with administration and colleagues to assist with curriculum development and implementation within the context of the School's overall program, mission, and core values
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, policies, and procedures, as well as maintain a clean environment with regard to hygiene
- Adheres to the MSR Diapering and Toileting best practices policy, ensuring the health, safety, and documentation of students in the process
- Participate in ongoing professional development
- Attend all required faculty and team meetings
- Collaborate and participate within multiple divisional teams and with interdisciplinary faculty
- Maintain student record keeping and program planning; use Veracross and Transparent Classroom as directed
- Maintain and participate in a home/school partnership by being open to consistent communication with parents
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Head of Lower School
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- The Instructional Aide & After School Care Guide can expect to:
- Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment, with periods of time outdoors
- Supervise groups of students and regularly engage with parents, staff, and visitors
- Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
