Gladwyne Montessori School is looking for energetic, creative, and responsible Summer Camp Lead Teachers  to join our summer camp team.  We are looking for experienced and qualified Montessorians to lead our toddler classrooms and primary classrooms. who are passionate about working with toddlers and young children and providing them with a fun and educational experience that aligns with the Montessori philosophy.

Our camp provides a safe, nurturing camp experience for campers ages 1 year - 12 years at our beautiful 5-acre campus in Gladwyne, PA. Camp runs from June 10th, 2024 to August 2nd, 2024 from 9:00 am - 3:00pm.

Lead Teacher Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 1 year to 12 years;
  • Prepare and maintain a Montessori classroom environment to the standards outlined by the School.
  • Guide campers through a "Montessori Morning" each morning and more typical camp activities in the afternoon.
  • Lead a team of teaching assistants to ensure a safe, nurturing and fun learning environment for all campers. 
  • Plan and lead summer camp activity-based curriculum to promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development;
  • Make materials and activities based around weekly camp themes;
  • Lead and assist with daily tasks, such as meals, car line, nap-time, transitions and clean-up;
  • Assist children with all physical needs to be safe and clean in a respectful manner;
  • Communicate with families as directed by the Auxiliary Program Manager;
  • Assist all children who need guidance and direction in hallways, playgrounds, and changing of programs.

Qualifications

  • AMS-accredited Montessori teaching credential or in active training for AMS-accredited Montessori teaching credential required. 
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working with children aged 1 - 12 years.
  • Prior camp experience preferred, but not required
  • Must be highly motivated, hard-working, and flexible with experience managing teaching assistants. 
  • Must have knowledge of minimum standards, health and safety practices, social and emotional development, and classroom management;
  • Must pass all required clearances  (PA Child Abuse, Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History, Federal Criminal History Background Check);
  • Must be able to sit comfortably on the floor with children and bend, squat, and kneel with ease;
  • Ability to navigate stairs;
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
