Affiliated with the American Montessori Society for 20 years, Love of Learning Montessori has offered traditional non-denominational Montessori instruction in a wooded setting on Centerport Harbor. Serving 110 children, Love of Learning is devoted to developing students’ self-motivation, independence, curiosity, and cooperation. Unique to our curriculum is the use of our 15-acre outdoor wooded space, used both for instruction, recess, and family events. The woods and the shore are our hallways. Overview:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Montessori Assistant Teacher's to join our dynamic team. As a Montessori Assistant Teacher, you will work closely with the lead Montessori teacher to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can develop academically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.
Responsibilities:
- Support Lead Teacher: Collaborate closely with the lead Montessori teacher to implement Montessori principles and practices in the classroom.
- Assist in Classroom Management: Help maintain a well-organized, clean, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Prepare Materials: Assist in the preparation and organization of Montessori materials and activities, ensuring they are accessible and engaging for students.
- Supervise Activities: Supervise and engage with children during but not limited to, classroom activities, recess, lunch, field trips.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your understanding of Montessori principles and teaching practices.
Qualifications:
- Montessori Training: Completion of a Montessori Assistant Teacher training program or willingness to undergo training.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in a Montessori or early childhood education setting.
- Passion for Montessori Education & the Outdoors: Genuine enthusiasm for Montessori education and a commitment to fostering children's holistic development on our 15-acre wooded campus.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Patience and Flexibility: Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and adaptability in working with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Caring and Compassionate: A nurturing and compassionate demeanor, with a genuine desire to support the well-being and growth of each child.
- Commitment to Professional Growth: Willingness to continuously learn and grow as an educator, staying updated on best practices in Montessori education.
Hours: 8:15 am - 3:15 pm
September 2024 start with potential summer training pending qualifications and experience.
