Harbor Montessori School in Gig Harbor Washington, is seeking a dynamic and compassionate early childhood Montessori teacher for the 2024-25 school year. HMS has well-equipped and beautiful classrooms, small class sizes, a welcoming and joyful staff and faculty, all on a beautiful four-acre campus just two miles from the downtown area.

Candidates must be detail-oriented, work well as a team member, be experienced in classroom management skills, and have a deep understanding of Montessori education in the first plane of development.  

Brief Description:   The Early Childhood Teacher is a full-time, 10-month position. The EC Teacher will work in conjunction with the EC Program Director, the Associate Head of School, and the Head of School to educate, lead, and empower Early Childhood students in accordance with the principles of Montessori educational philosophy and practices. The candidate must hold an Early Childhood credential from an AMS, AMI, or MACTE accredited teacher education program.

    

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

  • Prepare the environment and lessons in all subject areas
  • Develop, review, and update curriculum and curriculum maps as needed with the support of the EC Program Director
  • Prepare annual statement of goals and objectives for professional development and evaluation
  • Maintain student records with regard to attendance, achievement, and report-writing
  • Prepare reports for parents in accordance with the established policies of Harbor Montessori School
  • Mentor the classroom assistant and build a collaborative relationship with them
  • Prepare for and participate in regular parent-teacher conferences as set forth on the school calendar
  • Attend and participate in various evening meetings
  • Establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with students, families, and other staff members

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
