Harbor Montessori School in Gig Harbor Washington, is seeking a dynamic and compassionate upper elementary Montessori teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. HMS has well-equipped and beautiful classrooms, small class sizes, a welcoming and joyful staff and faculty, all on a beautiful four-acre campus just two miles from the downtown area.

Candidates must be detail-oriented, work well as a team member, be experienced in classroom management skills, and have a deep understanding of Montessori education in the second plane of development.  

Brief Description: The Upper Elementary Teacher is a full-time, 10-month position. The Upper Elementary Teacher will work in conjunction with their Upper Elementary teaching partner, the Elementary Team Leader, the Academic Support Teacher, the Assistant Head of School, and the Head of School to educate, lead, and empower Upper Elementary students in accordance with the principles of Montessori educational philosophy and practices. The candidate must hold an Upper Elementary credential from an AMS, AMI, or MACTE-accredited teacher education program.

    

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

  • Prepare lessons in collaboration with their Upper Elementary teaching partner in all subject areas
  • Develop, review, and update curriculum and curriculum maps as needed in conjunction with their Upper Elementary teaching partner and Head of School
  • Prepare annual statement of goals and objectives for professional development and evaluation
  • Maintain a prepared environment in the classroom and other areas used for instruction
  • Maintain student records with regard to attendance, achievement, and report-writing
  • Prepare reports for parents in accordance with the established policies of Harbor Montessori School
  • Prepare for and participate in regular parent-teacher conferences as set forth on the school calendar
  • Participate in regularly scheduled day and overnight trips with students
  • Attend and participate in various evening meetings
  • Establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with students, families, and other staff members
