The Franklin Montessori School, founded in 2002, is a private institution nestled in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Washington, DC. Serving around 90 students, ranging from 3 months to 6 years old, we offer a wonderful Montessori educational experience in an urban setting.

Job Description:
As an Infant Montessori Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a warm, safe, and stimulating environment that supports the developmental needs of infants aged 12-weeks to 24-months. You will implement Montessori principles to guide infants through their developmental milestones, fostering a sense of independence and curiosity. This role requires a compassionate and patient individual who is committed to the Montessori philosophy and dedicated to the well-being and growth of each child.
Position Overview:
As an Infant Montessori Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a warm, safe, and stimulating environment that supports the developmental needs of infants aged 6 weeks to 24- months. You will implement Montessori principles to guide infants through their developmental milestones, fostering a sense of independence and curiosity. This role requires a compassionate and patient individual who is committed to the Montessori philosophy and dedicated to the well-being and growth of each child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of each child.
- Design and implement a developmentally appropriate Montessori curriculum for infants.
- Observe and assess each child’s progress, maintaining detailed records and communicating regularly with parents about their child’s development.
- Foster a sense of independence and curiosity in infants through hands-on learning experiences and individualized attention.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a cohesive and supportive educational environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom that adheres to health and safety standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay current with best practices in Montessori education and early childhood development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Montessori (MACTE) certification for infants (0-3 years) from a recognized Montessori training center.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of each child.
- Strong understanding of Montessori principles and child development.
- Experience working with infants in a Montessori setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a warm and nurturing environment for infants.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
