Position Overview:
Wellan Montessori School is seeking a passionate educator to provide focused 1:1 support in our Lower Elementary program (ages 6-9). This is a full-time position to start immediately. Open to part time availability as well.
The 1:1 Aide provides individualized student support while working closely with classroom teachers to ensure that learning standards are met. The 1:1 Aide must excel at taking shared responsibility for creating and maintaining an appropriately challenging and supportive learning environment for children with disabilities/special education needs. Additional responsibilities may include: facilitating student lessons and activities, modifying lessons and/or work, communicating with families, and implementing health and safety protocols.
Successful candidates will be patient, well organized, flexible, professional, and dependable; have strong verbal and written communication skills; be able to function in a cooperative teaching environment; and be able to collaborate with other educators in our community to create an environment where children learn, socialize, explore, and grow together.
Position Details:
- Full-Time, 40 hours per week, with attendance at staff meetings and occasional night / weekend events outside of regular hours required.
- Regular Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm.
Job Requirements:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Experience working in special education.
- Experience working in a Montessori environment preferred.
- Bachelor's degree or beyond in Special Education or a related field preferred. Candidates pursuing education, licensure, or training in Special Education are also encouraged to apply.
