This is a 12-month, full time position that boasts comprehensive benefits and a salary commensurate with experience.
A Masters degree is preferred.
The Interim Director of Admissions, will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that advertising, publicity and events related to the attraction of new students and the retention of existing students leads to an enrollment of 90% capacity or better, and ultimately a waitlist of 10 percent of the size of each program offered by the school. The Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management will report to the Head of School and with contributions of the Senior Leadership Team will lead, plan, direct and implement overall strategy for all student recruitment and retention initiatives on behalf of the school. The Director will oversee and actively participate in the creation, design, budget, and production of on- and off-site recruitment and retention efforts and events to support enrollment.
- Foster and facilitate increased retention with existing enrolled students.
- Advance the mission of the school by identifying, attracting and securing mission-appropriate families for each program level
- Carry out all aspects of the admissions cycle:
- Initiate contacts with prospective families
- Conduct individualized tours for prospective families
- Orchestrate and lead Open House events
- Systematically and efficiently handle inquiries, applications and communications with prospective families
- Schedule and organize student visits/interviews/observations/assessments as appropriate for each program offered by the school
- Build and maintain relationships with current and past families
- Develop appropriate recruitment strategies for prospective families
- Move prospective families in an appropriate and timely fashion toward fully executed enrollment contracts
- Maintain up-to-date records and keep relevant statistics on all aspects of the admissions and re-enrollment data
- Act as a resource for the Head of School, Board of Trustees, Leadership Team and Faculty by leveraging school retention and recruitment events and initiatives while providing strategy to push these initiatives forward and seeing them to fruition
- Identify and develop relationships with feeder schools to increase the pool of prospective mission-appropriate families
- Promote opportunities for new families to feel welcome and oriented by establishing mentor family partnerships annually
- Represent the school at appropriate conferences and events
- Work with School Secretary to ensure Student Information Software system is up to date and accurate
- Work with School Secretary and Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure that all admissions/enrollment related communications are sent in a timely and proactive fashion
- Serve as a member of the Tuition Assistance Committee
- Oversee Parent Ambassadors for the Admissions Office
- Work with Head of School and CFO to develop and communicate accurate enrollment projections annually and maintain current and up to date records of these projections throughout each admissions cycle
- Attend Board of Trustee meetings and provide reporting as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
- Minimum five to seven years proven successful experience in admissions and enrollment management
- Successful track record of data management, establishing and managing program waitlists and achieving full enrollment in a highly competitive independent school market
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, creative thinking
- An eagerness and ability to interact with parents, students, faculty and staff, administrators, trustees, alumni and other friends of the school
- Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills and relationship building skills
- Ability to understand and anticipate the needs and interests of various stakeholders: current parents, prospective parents, feeder schools, teachers, administrative colleagues, trustees
- Proficient in a student information software, preferably Rediker
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member, prioritize work and meet competing deadlines while managing multiple tasks and maintaining a positive attitude
- Demonstrated record of completing assignments
- A willingness to work outside of “normal” business hours is essential as peak periods and special events necessitate some evening and weekend hours
