Hamilton Park Montessori School located in Jersey City NJ seeks to add a STEM /Science teacher for the 2024-25 school year.  

OurMontessori Middle School, an innovative, integrated studies/project-based is seeking a Middle School (6th, 7thand 8thgrades) Digital Technology and Science Teacher

 

Approximately half the position will be science, and the other half digital technology.

The Science/Technology Teacher is responsible for maintaining up-to-date teaching techniques to provide middle school science students with a quality educational experience in science class. This includes the development of and execution of middle school science curricula that focus on inquiry-based experiences, multiple levels of material engagement, and the use of scientific tools and technology. There is an emphasis on hands-on work that includes data collection, results communication and conceptual synthesis, and individual student projects with an aim to explore various areas of science.

 

In the area of technology, the teacher is responsible to develop student interest, ability, talent, and skill in the use of technology.  The teacher works with students to enrich their understanding and experience of the world of technology by introducing them to coding skills and various programs.  The technology teacher will work closely with other teachers to promote the integration of technology throughout the Middle School.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching

  • Prepare rigorous, differentiated lessons in the Humanities for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students
  • Maintain a prepared environment in the classroom and other areas
  • Develop, review, and update curriculum as needed in conjunction with the Middle School coordinator, MS team, and HOS
  • Guide students through their Project Based Learning modules

 

 Experience Required:

  • teaching middle school science courses including Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science.
  • strong foundation in computer science
  • teaching digital fabrication, digital literacy, programing and coding
  • teaching digital Photography and Film Production, a plus

 

A degree in a field in, to science, technology, engineering, is preferred.  Prior independent school teaching experience, and a background and experience to teach in several disciplines within STEM and/or maker space experience, are preferred.
