Wellan Montessori School, an independent day school in Newton Centre, MA, is accepting applications for an experienced middle school Math teacher. In this role, you will teach math by ability level in small groups, helping individual students advance at their own pace. Experience teaching Math in grades 6-9 is preferred.
We have the option of making this a part-time Math position only or expanding it to full-time. Additional responsibilities will be based on a match between your areas of expertise and the school’s needs. Candidates interested in a full-time position should be able to point to accomplishments that required independent initiative and team collaboration.
At Wellan, grades 7-8 are taught in a mixed age educational program called Voyager. The innovative Voyager curriculum integrates academic subjects, specials, executive function skills development, social-emotional learning, and authentic research explorations during off-campus overnight trips to provide students with a challenging, holistic, hands-on learning experience that will prepare them for selective high schools. Two co-teachers develop and facilitate multidisciplinary lessons that engage students in big ideas, compelling questions, and independent research. Though Math is taught separately, the Math teacher, whether part-time or full-time, will work closely with the Humanities and STEM lead teachers to support student learning and ensure the quality of this educational program.
The Voyager program is a journey like no other for an experienced middle school Math teacher brave enough to come aboard! Apply now.
