Assistant Teachers Needed for 2023-2024 School Year

The Montessori Academy of Chicago is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Teachers for our Early Childhood and Nursery Programs for the 2023-2024 school year. These positions will work directly with our Primary Coordinator and Primary lead teachers and assistant teachers. We are seeking nurturing, capable, self-starters willing to take command of the classroom in the afternoon hours. These are hourly full-time positions to start immediately. The positions involve in-person instruction Monday-Friday.

Located in Chicago’s West Loop, the Academy serves 300 students each day. We are accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) to serve children from 6 weeks through 8th grade.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
• Interacting positively in a friendly, calm, and nurturing manner with children.
• Classroom management and supervision.
• Encouraging and modeling social behavior and expectations appropriate to the age group.
• Preparing and serving snack, meals, or bottles.

• Maintaining respectful and courteous relationships with parents.
• Maintaining complete and accurate attendance records.
• Daily responsibilities include washing dishes, sanitizing materials, logging student routine information, and restocking supplies.
• Ensuring classroom is clean and orderly so that it is a prepared environment for the following school day.

Qualifications and Skills

• Applicants must be able to work Monday - Friday from 9:00am- 5:30pm or 10:30am - 6:30pm
• Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years experience working with young children. Some college is preferred.
