Metropolitan Montessori School, a pre-k through seventh grade program, seeks an enthusiastic and dynamic educator to teach French on a part time basis.
The French program at MMS is a fluency-based curriculum enriched by a strong culture component. In addition to lessons led by the French teacher, students and homeroom teachers will work independently to develop their French-speaking skills on a daily basis with support from the French faculty. French lessons will occur in the mixed-age classrooms to best encourage language acquisition, with a goal of speaking in the target language 90% of the time.
The teacher will work closely with the current French teacher, division heads and specialist team leader to ensure alignment of the school’s philosophy in curriculum and practices. Additional responsibilities will include recess/lunch coverage, attending department and faculty meetings and fulfilling other duties as assigned.
The ability to be positive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and innovative is essential as is a devotion to professional development and self-reflection. Educators dedicated to meeting the academic, social, emotional and personal needs of children should apply.
