High School Language Arts and College and Careers Advisement Teaching Position

Oak Farm Montessori School is an infant through 11th grade program with the mission to “provide a Montessori environment that inspires children to reach their potential through meaningful work”.  The school is located on a beautiful 100 acre campus in Northeastern Indiana.  Oak Farm High School Program instructional design is individualized by students under the guidance of “teacher guides”.  The goal is to provide hands-on, project-based learning with adult-world connections. Candidates should be open to a dynamic, collaborative, innovative, close-knit community with the individual students at the center of the curriculum.  This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of a collaborative team, working together to craft a new approach to adolescent education that is unique to our area.

 

Working at Oak Farm:

  • Full-time annual teaching agreements are typically written with 180 (minimum) work days
  • Compensation is competitive and based on credentials/experience

High School English & College and Careers Teacher-

  • Bachelors or higher degree in Secondary English or Language Arts Education or English, Literature, or Writing
  • Minimum 2 years of classroom experience with middle or high schoolers preferred
  • Experience with interdisciplinary units of study
  • Passionate about the world
  • Collaborative, curious and creative
  • College and career advisory experience preferred but not required
  • Willingness to be member of community- beyond classroom instruction
  • Lifelong learner

 

Conditions of employment:       

  • Training for Montessori Secondary Teaching Credential at CMSTEP in Cincinnati, OH (Total of 8 weeks of training over 2 or 3 summers, sponsored by Oak Farm)
  • Up to 2 overnight week (10 nights) trips per school year
  • Availability to teach one after school club based on interest if needed
  • Support planning and implementation as requested by the Secondary Director or Head of School

  • Learn Naviance college and careers program (support provided)
  • Support students and families in the process of finding college and career choices that best suit individual students
  • Support students in the college application process
