Teacher, Toddler Class: Full-Time Position
The Montessori School of Washington is looking for a Teacher to work in our toddler classroom. We are a small preschool and pride ourselves on our connection with every family and child we educate. We are looking for a well-organized, energetic, and vibrant person interested in becoming a member of our wonderful school and community.
Hours are from 7:30 am to 3.30 pm, Monday-Friday.
Aftercare from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Job description
Seeking an experienced early childhood teacher with Montessori experience or open to Montessori training. Able to help plan lessons with the Director/Assistant Director and implement the Montessori curriculum and philosophy for children ages 2-3. Able to collaborate with staff and communicate effectively with parents. Letters of reference required. Must have work authorization in the U.S.
Toddler Teacher
Quali?cations: The Montessori teacher should have at least a four-year college degree or some college. Good interpersonal skills are necessary. The teacher should have the ability to work not only with children but with parents and other staff members as well. A positive and open attitude toward all children is a requirement.
Job Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the preparation of the classroom environment, materials, and equipment; ensures that all materials are in good repair and all sets are complete. Develops and makes materials when needed.
· Plan and implement the Montessori curriculum. Give appropriate presentations and establish a record-keeping system to track the children’s progress.
Provide necessary instruction and training for those assisting in the classroom environment.
· Promote good communication among staff members.
· Facilitate a respectful environment for children and adults by advocating con?ict resolution and Grace and Courtesy lessons.
· Ensure respectful and open lines of communication with parents.
· Planning and maintenance of the general classroom area and outdoor environment.
· Assess prospective children when they visit the school.
· Provide ?rst aid as needed and complete appropriate forms for parents. Comply with all continuing education requirements.
· Attend all faculty meetings and scheduled staff events
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Montessori certification or experience will be considered
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education (or related field) preferred
