Montessori Head Toddler Teacher Job Description 

Fraser Woods Montessori School is seeking a compassionate, inspirational, and innovative Montessori-certified Toddler (15 months to 3 years) teacher to join our team. The head teacher’s responsibilities include creating lessons and curricula that focus on developing social, physical, intellectual, and emotional skills, assessing children’s individual needs, and communicating with parents as needed. A successful teacher creates a nurturing, stimulating classroom where every child feels included.

Teacher Responsibilities:

• Observe, guide, supervise, and assess children while they learn in the classroom environment.
• Develop lessons, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods that cater to the child's needs.
• Create and maintain a safe, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel secure and valued.
• Establish rapport and build relationships with students based on trust.
• Set an excellent example for students and instill values such as honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness.
• Monitor and assess student progress and write progress reports.
• Ensure classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition.
• Update records on the school database and handle various other administrative tasks.

Teacher Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, teaching, or a related field is preferred.
• Completed training at an accredited Montessori Center is required.
• Passionate about education.
• The skills to teach groups of children of varying ages, needs, and abilities.
• Patience and excellent observational, communication, and diagnostic skills.
• The ability to multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with love and respect.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• A lifelong learner who can be a good role model for children.

About Fraser Woods Montessori School:

Established in 1968, Fraser Woods Montessori School is a coeducational, independent school for toddlers through eighth grade located in the historic town of Newtown, Connecticut. FWM serves approximately 160 students on a beautiful 8-acre campus. The Middle School follows a more traditional, independent school model while remaining true to FWM's Montessori values, which are more prominent in the lower grades. FWM provides a challenging educational environment while also focusing on the social-emotional needs of children aged 15 months to 14 years of age.
