Bay Farm Montessori Academy seeks a highly motivated Early Childhood Montessori Teacher to join our dynamic Children's House education team. Bay Farm Montessori Academy (BFMA) is a dually accredited, independent Montessori school serving toddlers through sixth grade. The BFMA community works together to instill in our students a love of learning and a respect for others and the natural world with joy, purpose, and compassion.

Montessori Lead Teacher Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):

  • Promote and advance the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical well-being of students by directing them to activities in a prepared Montessori environment that challenges all children to reach their fullest potential
  • Create and maintain a safe, clean, peaceful, and stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued
  • Observe, guide, supervise, and assess children patiently while they learn 
  • Develop lesson plans, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods that keep in mind the needs of the individual child and whole-group dynamic
  • Ensure the classroom, lessons, and materials foster diversity and inclusion
  • Meet regularly with team teacher(s) for planning weekly/monthly lessons, reviewing children, revitalizing/revising classrooms
  • Share in the responsibilities of classroom management, maintenance, and toileting
  • Monitor and assess student progress to track mastery; write up progress and conference reports in a timely manner
  • Adequately prepare students for their next level of learning through the delivery of a Montessori and curriculum rooted in best practices.
  • Participate in meetings and reviews for students with special needs
  • Participate in parent conferences and meetings throughout the school year, communicate with parents in accordance with school policy, and promote the school’s mission, objectives, and policies to parents
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and modeling to the assistant(s) in the classroom, ensuring the entire team feels valued and understands their role in the classroom and offers opportunitues for continuous growth
  • Work collaboratively with administrators and other faculty to ensure a harmonious and positive experience for all communities within the school
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and school events
  • Maintain EEC credentials and knowledge of EEC guidelines (Department of Early Education & Care)
  • Maintain proper AMS & EEC credentials for program level
  • Stay abreast of best-learning practices and developmentally appropriate milestones for students
  • Participate in the admissions process for prospective and transitioning students
  • Write articles for weekly emails and quarterly newsletters
  • Understand the school’s mission and objectives and comply with policies

Children’s House Lead Teachers report to the Children’s House Level Coordinator.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Montessori 3-6 certification through a MACTE accredited Teacher Education Program
  • Minimum of three years experience teaching 3 to 6-year-old children in a Montessori environment desired
  • Clear background check
