Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Montessori Co-Guide to join our team in a mixed-grade classroom serving students in grades 1 through 3. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Montessori philosophy, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment. This position is to begin in August 2025. This is a full-time position that operates on an academic calendar year (mid-August to mid-June).
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to plan and implement a Montessori curriculum that meets the developmental needs of students in grades 1 through 3.
- Assist in maintaining a well-prepared, clean, and organized Montessori classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
- Provide individualized instruction and support to students, fostering independence and self-directed learning.
- Facilitate small group lessons and activities, guiding students in their academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Observe and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating with parents/guardians as needed.
- Foster a positive classroom community based on respect, empathy, and collaboration among students and staff.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and parent conferences.
- Uphold the Montessori School of Yakima's mission, vision, and values in all interactions and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
- Montessori certification (AMI or AMS) at the appropriate level (Elementary I or Elementary II) preferred but not required. Will provide Montessori training for the right candidate.
- Previous experience working in a Montessori classroom preferred.
- Strong understanding of child development and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative teaching environment and a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
- Ability to pass a background check and meet all state licensing requirements for working in an educational setting.
Benefits:
- Salary range is $35,250 - $39,480 depending on experience and qualifications. Yearly increases are between 3-10% depending on budget and merit. Eligible for a bonus yearly.
