Role Title: Elementary Montessori Teacher (ELI/ELII/ELI – II)

Hours: 7:30-3:30
Westside Montessori School is searching for elementary educators who have an educational philosophy that aligns with Montessori principles. WMS is particularly interested in candidates who are team-oriented, lifelong learners, and committed to culturally responsive and culturally affirming school culture and instruction. Summary
A full-time teaching position responsible for instruction and assessment in an authentic, multi-age level Montessori classroom. This role includes, but is not limited to:
• Establishing positive relationships with students and families
• Curricular, instructional, and assessment planning in collaboration with the elementary team
• Record keeping and progress monitoring of students’ academic and social development through the online student information system (Transparent Classroom)
• Establishing a well-prepared learning environment that aligns with Montessori principles, research, and best practices in the field of education
• Establishing a well-prepared learning environment that engages students
• Modeling and fostering a sense of community
• Using Montessori pedagogy and materials for instruction and assessment
• Engaging in collaboration with all faculty members
• Mentoring and guiding students in their academic and social development
• Learning and engaging in WMS’s Student Support process to support the neurodiversity in student learners
• Creatively matching academic and real-world challenges to a variety of student skill levels
• Cultivating productive relationships with our community members, including parents and volunteers
• Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
• Enthusiasm for participating in educational travel experiences
Qualifications
The well-grounded candidate will have experience teaching lower elementary school students. We are looking for individuals who possess:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Teaching credential
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
• A lifelong desire for continuous personal growth and professional learning
• Commitment to the principles and goals of Montessori education
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree
• Montessori teaching credential from an AMS, NCME, or AMI education program (or any other MACTE accredited course)
