Teacher Purpose:

To provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving Montessori environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected with a strong understanding of Montessori principles, methodology, and curriculum.

About our School:

TMA was founded in 2008 in the heart of downtown Cary, NC. We have recently expanded to our second campus located in the heart of Holly Springs, NC. Our school is in the process of AMS Accrediation.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of both the individual and the group. To interact with the children and to encourage their involvement in activities. To prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean and appealing and permits the child to grow and to explore. To plan with the assistant teacher weekly lesson plans based on a curriculum outline' and to provide assistants with the opportunity to have input into the program. To communicate effectively. To establish and maintain good communications with parents through parent conferences twice a year and on a daily informal basis. To observe, give individual and group lessons. Model behavior and enforce ground rules, treat children according to individual needs, remain in contact with the whole group and sense changing mood or activity symptoms, protect working children from interference, and make notes needed for later record keeping. To use appropriate and positive discipline and to train staff so that discipline is consistent. To maintain all records and files. To keep staff informed of program goals and developments both with children, parents, and administration. To attend monthly and quarterly staff meetings. To prepare the materials necessary for the program. To keep detailed records via Transparent Classroom of the progress of each student assigned, will prepare progress reports for each child's file at least once each semester, will keep parents and administrator informed of children's progress, will report to administrator in writing on the appropriate form conversations with parents and any other difficulties that the child has, and will meet with each parent as requested, at least once each semester. To engage in Professional Development - reading professional journals, attending seminars/AMS conferences, observing other schools, etc. And any other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Must have 3 to 6 Montessori AMS Certification or a MACTE approved training certificate.

At least 2 years experience in an AMS Montessori environment as a Lead Teacher.
