Upper Elementary Lead Teacher Position Available at Fully Accredited Montessori School

An Upper Elementary Credential and experience working in a Montessori Upper Elementary classroom are required. This position is full time, 10-month, and 40 hours per week.

General Description of the Job

The Elementary Teacher is a Montessori professional and an integral part of the Parent-Child-Teacher triangle that frames our Portrait of a Graduate. The Elementary Teacher:

  • Will provide an organized, safe, and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
  • Is responsible for preparing and maintaining the environment in which the Montessori approach to education is implemented and incorporates TMA’s mission, culture, goals, values, philosophies, polices, and practices.
  • Will work with other TMA teachers as a team to assist in the design and implementation of appropriate instruction.
  • Will be accountable for maintaining the overall classroom environment to support Montessori teaching methods and demonstrate a devotion to lifelong learning and respect for the natural world.
  • Will have opportunities to grow professionally through decision-making and working collaboratively to maintain positive relationships with families, children, and coworkers.
  • Must always ensure the safety and supervision of all children.
  • Will dress in a manner that reflects their role as a professional and allows them to interact comfortably with children.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Be enrolled in or have a Montessori teaching credential from a M.A.C.T.E. accredited training program for the age group of children assigned.
  • Experience teaching in a Montessori environment.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of development, safety, and regulatory issues surrounding the age group of children assigned.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students with learning differences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students and families from diverse cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, multi-task, and be flexible.
  • Must be able to work in the United States. We cannot provide visa sponsorships.
