Qualifications/Job Description
The Gilpin County School District RE-1 seeks an Upper Elementary Grades 4 and 5 Montessori Teacher for Gilpin County Elementary School for the 2024/2025 school year. Gilpin County Schools are on a 4-day a week schedule, Monday through Thursday. This position begins on August 12, 2024.
- Certification, training, and experience in the Montessori educational philosophy and practice at the Upper Elementary level.
- Successful experience as a teacher at the elementary level with background in early literacy development and math foundations.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment using good communication skills with students, staff, and the school community.
- Knowledge of Colorado standards and assessments, core content knowledge in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, and the ability to facilitate date driven instruction.
- Use research based instructional strategies and incorporate technology when teaching.
- Ability to ensure student academic success through MTSS.
Qualifications:
This position is a great opportunity for an experienced teacher, change of career individual, or someone who would like to teach children to earn a full-time salary and receive paid training to be a Montessori teacher while on the job in the classroom.
- Training Certificate in Upper Elementary from an accredited Montessori Teacher Training Program (AMS is preferred).
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Colorado Teaching Certificate endorsed in Elementary Education preferred; Substitute License required.
- One to three years of teaching experience with elementary students is preferred.
- Interested candidates may complete required Montessori Teacher training after hire. District will pay the Montessori Teaching Training tuition fee.
- District will pay an alternative teacher training program fee.
Job Goals:
To create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good educational background in accordance with each pupil’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Plans a program of study that is aligned with the Montessori philosophy and AMS standards.
- Develop a program of study that is appropriate to the maturity and interest of students and meets their individual needs and abilities.
- Creates a positive classroom environment which upholds and enforces the school rules and is conducive to learning.
- The teacher will guide the learning process to increase student achievement in accordance with the curriculum and consistent with state and local standards.
- Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required in a timely and confidential manner.
- Work with other professionals to determine special learning needs of pupils on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of specialists as required.
- The school professional adheres to the Board of Education policies, state rules and regulations, and to licensure standards.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence and serves on staff committees as required.
Salary and Benefits:
Based on Certified Salary Schedule “B.” Bachelor Degree Salary range $50,000 to $53,447; Masters Degree Salary Range $55,280 to $60,168. Outside experience is credited up to 5 years on the salary schedule. District paid employee health, dental, and vision ($8,160), life, accidental death and dismemberment, and long-term disability insurance. District-paid contribution 21.4% of annual salary to the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Account (PERA). Paid time off/Annual Leave 10 days a school year, which may be accrued to a total of 60 days.
Employment Period:
2024/2025 School Year. Gilpin County Schools are on a 4-day a week schedule, Monday through Thursday. 163 contract days per school year.
