Bennett Park Montessori is looking for a trained Montessori teacher who would be dedicated to the mission of our school, committed to the study of Montessori pedagogy, motivated to work collaboratively, and committed to a self-reflective practice and professional development. They will teach in a 3-6, 6 – 9, or 9 - 12 year old environment, and be responsible to themselves and the team: to be self-motivated, self-directed, and able to manage time effectively while fulfilling curriculum requirements.
- Supervises and plans for the developmental needs of the children, on an individual and group level, in the areas of academic, emotional, social and psychomotor growth
- Executes Montessori philosophy and curriculum in an appropriate manner
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Supports the mission and goals and objectives of the Bennett Park Montessori and Buffalo Public Schools
- Establishes a professional relationship with parents
- Commits to professional growth as a Montessori Teacher and employee of Buffalo Public Schools
- Designs curriculum areas and arranges furniture for optimum use of space and prepares an environment with well-defined curriculum areas and a complement of materials appropriate to the needs of the children
- Identify and utilize different instructional resources and methods to support the learning needs of students at varying levels of progress.
- Supports and implements standards of AMS accreditation
- Creates and prepares materials to meet the needs and interests of the children
- Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians
- Provide for the care and protection of school property.
- Use relevant technology to support instruction
- Monitor and encourage individual student progress.
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments as appropriate and maintains/updates school records as required by laws and district policies
- Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
- Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality,
professional courtesy, and discretion
- Appropriately carry out specific assignments, including but not limited to, service learning, advisory programs, assigned supervision, and other areas as determined by their supervisor
- Develops and implements weekly, monthly, and annual classroom goals
- Comply with the policies and procedures as articulated by the school's Faculty Handbook
- Establishes professional relationship with staff, working cooperatively to meet the needs of the children at all times, to include before and after school programs
-Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator works collaboratively with other teachers
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- AMS/AMI certification (Lower Elem: 6-9 Preferred)
- Bachelor of Arts or Science.
