Princeton Montessori School is a well-established, accredited, independent PreK-8 school located in Princeton, NJ. Our Middle School program is built on the core principles of Montessori education and is an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP). We take a holistic approach to learning, helping students develop critical thinking skills, self-awareness, and a lifelong love of discovery.
Who We're Looking For
We seek an engaging, student-centered educator who:
- Is passionate about teaching math and working with adolescents in grades 6-8.
- Create a supportive and inspiring learning environment where students take ownership of their education.
- Has experience teaching math and familiarity with IB or Montessori methodologies (or a willingness to learn!).
- Thrives in a collaborative, professional setting with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Values relationships with students, parents, and colleagues and fosters a culture of respect and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based math lessons for middle school students.
- Develop and continuously refine unit plans and curriculum materials.
- Teach three levels of math instruction, ensuring that each student is challenged appropriately.
- Work closely with colleagues to maintain consistency in instructional practices, grading, and student assessments.
- Serve as a conference teacher for up to ten students, supporting their academic and personal development.
- Supervise middle school students during various activities throughout the school day.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress in alignment with school policies.
- Foster a classroom atmosphere of curiosity, independence, and respect, in keeping with Montessori and IB principles.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, mathematics, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience in an upper elementary, middle school, or high school setting.
- Experience with or willingness to train in IB MYP and/or Montessori methodologies.
- A collaborative and professional demeanor.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
