Cambridge Montessori School | Cambridge, MA, United States

Posted Date 5/06/2025
Description

Cambridge Montessori School, founded in 1963, currently serves 150 students from toddler through 8th grade.  We are seeking an Upper Elementary Teacher to join our vibrant community.  The Upper Elementary Teacher will work alongside the Upper Elementary Lead Teacher to guide students in grades 4-6 to support their development, guide independent exploration, and cultivate a community of curiosity and collaboration.

Our program has a strong focus on practical life, community building, and community service.  In addition to our academic work, some unique highlights of the program include:

  • We encourage students to initiate large-scale projects that involve research, writing, experiments and hand-on components. Students’ interests culminate in a senior project, presented to the community at the end of their 6th grade year.
  • We do frequent student-planned going-outs and inviting-ins for students to find more real-world information about topics they are researching.
  • We run a bi-weekly community lunch program, involving planning, shopping for, cooking and serving lunch to the class and other members of our school community.
  • We plan service projects for the greater community a few times a year.
  • We write and perform a play based on a book.

Qualifications:

  • Montessori Elementary AMI or AMS Certification or willingness to enroll in a qualified Montessori training program.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous experience working with elementary-aged students (in a Montessori environment preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and curriculum.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • A passion for working with and supporting students’ growth and independence.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to the needs of students.
  • Creativity to design and facilitate projects that align with students’ interests and goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with our parent community.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset with an ability to give and receive feedback.

Cambridge Montessori School provides a competitive salary and benefits package.
