Inly School is an independent PreK–8 Montessori-plus School located in Scituate, MA, 25 miles south of Boston. It has a student population of approximately 340 students, 76 employees, and serves 20 towns on the South Shore.

Inly School seeks an experienced Lower School Learning Specialist for a leave coverage beginning in August, 2025. The learning specialist works with students in Children’s House and Lower Elementary to support teacher practice and provide direct interventions to students in alignment with established Montessori curriculum and practices.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to establish and manage multiple priorities; ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent ability to observe, track and deliver curriculum to students with varied academic skills, developmental levels and learning modalities while developing and maintaining a well-ordered learning support environment
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to create and deliver curriculum collaboratively with other educators and professionals
  • A proven understanding of and sensitivity to the developmental attributes of students in Children’s House through Lower Elementary
  • Sensitivity to learning differences and an ability to differentiate instruction
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Work closely with faculty and students to support literacy implementation Children’s House through Lower Elementary
  • Provide direct intervention to students with a variety of learning needs in Children’s House through Lower Elementary
  • Work with small groups of students outside of the learning environment on an as needed basis
  • Follow a schedule of academic benchmarking and work with the Learning Services team to track each child’s individual progress and support teachers in using those observations to plan and implement future interventions that are developmentally and academically appropriate for each student
  • Collaborate with the Learning Services team to review neuropsychological testing, conduct classroom observations, review student work, create appropriate internal student accommodation plans and lead or participate in teacher and/or parent team meetings to review plan development or implementation
  • Collaborate with the Learning Services team to create a system for weekly Learning Services meetings with teachers that supports work with students and leads to improved learner outcomes
  • Observe in environments throughout the school, engage in professional growth opportunities, and invest in pedagogical conversations with colleagues to invest in and learn about the total Inly community
  • Access all resources of the school, including colleagues and the Head of School to ensure that each student receives the support they need
  • Actively engage in level meetings
  • Administer screeners to applicants and conduct new student interviews when asked by the Director of Learning Services
  • Manage the flow of, and ensure that all forms submitted to the Learning Services Team are completed following the set process and timeline
  • Provide input on students to teachers during progress report preparation throughout the year following the set guidelines, timelines, and in accordance with Inly standards of excellence
  • Prepare for parent conferences, meetings, and communication throughout the school year, in accordance with the Inly philosophy
  • Maintain respectful communications with all students, parents and colleagues

 

Strong Candidates will have: 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master’s Degree in Special Education or Literacy
  • Wilson Fundations Training
  • Minimum three years teaching experience, ideally in inclusive educational settings
  • Desire to collaborate and contribute to a progressive school environment
  • An understanding of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy, as well as an interest in current educational research and innovative practices
  • A demonstrated ability to embrace multicultural perspectives with experience building an inclusive environment and a commitment to anti-bias teaching practices
