Alegria Montessori School is seeking a 3-6 Teacher. Teachers must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school’s educational philosophy. Teachers need to provide a loving and stimulating Montessori learning environment for children aged 3-6. Maintain a well-organized and harmonious classroom environment by setting ground rules and expectations for behavior, teaching students the proper care and use of materials, and fostering a sense of respect and cooperation among students. Teachers need to collaborate with other staff members to create a warm, supportive classroom environment.
For over 15 years, Alegria Montessori School has been inspiring children by implementing educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and pioneer in child development who observed that children have an innate ability and intrinsic desire to learn about their world. Montessori’s approach of “following the child” is the core of our philosophy at Alegria Montessori School.
Alegria Montessori has a one year old program (12 months - 2 years), a toddler program (2 - 3 years), and a preschool program (3 years – 6 years) on the main campus. Alegria is located in beautiful St. Petersburg in a serene and natural environment near the coast. Alegria Montessori has both full time and part time positions available.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising and guiding 3-6 year old children with developmentally appropriate curriculum to meet their individual needs
- Modeling kindness, respect, quiet voices and appropriate ways to work in the classroom and interact with others
- Ensuring the safety of the children by being aware of what is happening in the classroom
- Using effective, clear and respectful communication with children, parents, other faculty members, and administration
Education/Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Credential from a MACTE accredited program
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 2 or more years as a lead teacher in a Montessori 3-6 classroom
- 45 hours of DCF training is required (or willing to obtain) and CPR/First Aid
