Lexington Montessori School is seeking a part-time Learning Specialist to offer academic support to students in grades K-8. 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support/instruction for students in grades K-8 with learning differences including executive function, reading, spelling, writing, reading comprehension, problem-solving and math 
  • Plan and execute one-on-one lessons for struggling readers based on classroom Fundations lessons and children’s individual language needs
  • Collaborate with teachers to assist in the implementation of accommodations in the classroom
  • Provide information to teachers to understand learning profiles; support teachers with observational data 
  • Communicate with families, teachers, and administrators about individual student progress
  • Work with the School Learning Specialists and Counselor to review, evaluate and interpret testing results, neuropsychological evaluations, IEP’s and other accommodation plans
  • Create Learning Plans for students with documented learning differences
  • Attend grade-level meetings and all required meetings of the faculty and LMS Specialists 
  • Attend annual student IEP meetings 

The ideal candidate will have 3 - 5 years of experience in the areas of teaching, learning support or reading instruction. Master’s degree and certification/training in a reading program such as Wilson Language or Orton-Gillingham preferred. Familiarity with Montessori or multilingual students is a bonus.
