Description

Job Description: Principal Educator

Context: Our charter creates an educational model that gives each classroom head teacher, the Principal Educator (PE), the role of school Principal for that classroom. The classrooms are linked together in a federation governed by the Principal Educators,  parents and community members who serve with the PEs on the school’s Governing Council (GC).  The GC makes decisions for the school as a whole, while the PE runs his or her classroom with a high level of autonomy and accountability.  The close interface with parents is a unique feature of the charter. There is no school Principal to interfere with, or run interference for, the PE.  Problem-solving occurs between the PE and parents, with the support of the other members of the Governing Council and the Executive Director.
