POSITION SUMMARY: Montessori Academy is seeking a 4th - 6th grade teacher with strong teaching abilities, an understanding of pedagogy and instructional practices in elementary education, and an enthusiasm for connecting learning to real life application. Candidates must be committed to developing meaningful relationships with students and have strong communication skills, as you will be expected to interact with colleagues, parents, students, and administration.
The lead teacher must have the ability to teach in a mixed-age, diverse environment where children's individual development and needs, rather than age, guide the curriculum and teaching process. The ideal candidate will be understanding and attentive to student needs, and have a passion for the education field. You must be willing to foster and elicit learning, create evolving environments and make each day a productive step in the journey to the ultimate goal: A student who is motivated, independent and has a love of learning.
Lead Teachers, preferably Montessori certified, but we will pay for and train if it is a good fit . Elementary degree and/or experience required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
- Montessori Certification (willing to train the right person)
- Must obtain an Arizona Identity Verified Fingerprint Card
- AEPA/NES passing score - will reimburse cost of test/study guides
- TB Test required
- Create, plan and implement approved curriculum
- Team member attitude, effective communication and organizational skills
- Professional, punctual, and friendly
Daily responsibilities include: knowledge of Montessori materials, child development and education, preparing the classroom, individual record keeping for children, positive partnering with an Assistant Teacher, and Parent/Teacher conferences.
This job is a minimum of one (school) year commitment and begins as soon as possible.
